How to handle leftovers!!!
One of the most pressing HOT TOPICS in fashion right now is waste, and how much is generated by the fashion community. We agree that this is an issue worth getting behind, and we at AREA STARS want to do our part and be sustainable. Giving new life to items is a viable solution to the problem. So, how are we dealing with the surplus?
Every season we have many samples that either never made it into the collection or are too trendy to be carried over into the next line. These samples can include such things as daytime dresses, long maxi dresses, hand embroidered kimonos, macramé handbags, beach totes, clutches, and fashion jewelry. Instead of discarding these, we donate every last piece to a worthwhile organization by the name of Housing Works. Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Their mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of life saving services and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain their efforts.
As a result of our donations, we are giving new life to these pieces and providing women the opportunity to look like STARS in their own AREA. Please if you can, shop with Housing Works and do you part to address the waste issue.
Make sure you sign up for our email communications so you can be the first to learn about special events, new blog posts, and other newsworthy items so you can continue being the STAR in your AREA.
