MEN IN PINK
MEN IN PINK is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women and children in need in Miami. Established in November 2020, the organization acts as a bridge between local individuals interested in volunteering and opportunities to engage in social philanthropy. While open to everyone, the core members are primarily male, with the aim of challenging traditional gender stereotypes of masculinity by embodying kindness, compassion, and support for women and children. MEN IN PINK seeks to counterbalance negative perceptions or traumas by representing men who are committed to helping others. They wear pink as a symbol of unity and collective compassion, working to destigmatize a color traditionally aligned with gender norms, thereby embracing diversity to enhance the well-being of those they serve. Their goal is to motivate and inspire people to understand the power of giving back.
MEN IN PINK partners with Miami-based non-profits dedicated to helping women and children by providing support, staffing, and strength for their events, programs, and fundraising efforts. They organize monthly volunteer opportunities where 5-20 volunteers gather as a collective for 2-3 hour shifts, depending on the need.
The organization is led by 2 Co-Founders, with 8 Ambassadors, 125 active members, and 300 subscribers in their database. They host an annual Virtual Toy Drive during the holidays benefiting Lotus House, which has grown to collect over 300 toys, in conjunction with an annual Holiday Party for members and supporters.
To cover overhead costs such as website maintenance, email hosting, and marketing platforms, MEN IN PINK raises funds by leading a weekly donation-based Boot Camp fitness class in Miami and hosting a summer “Back-to-School” pool party. All remaining funds raised go directly to the non-profits they support.
MEN IN PINK was founded on the belief that individuals are eager to volunteer but may be more inclined to support an organization if there is both a low barrier to entry and a strong social element to foster community. The organization also recognized a need for staffing and support among non-profits in their operations, programs, and events.
By aligning the intent to serve with the need for "manpower" to support initiatives, MEN IN PINK provides a cohort of volunteers for both behind-the-scenes and front-of-stage service and representation.
